On August 3, the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier left the North Island naval base in Coronado, California before making its trip across the Pacific Ocean.
During her transit across the Pacific Ocean, the Ronald Reagan completed a blue water certification, replenishment at sea, day and night flight operations and damage control and medical drills, the release noted.
“Ronald Reagan is 11 years newer than [aircraft carrier] George Washington, which means the [Ronald Reagan] has benefited from 11 years of evolving technology,” US Navy Captain Christopher Bolt said.
The Ronald Reagan carries an air wing — Carrier Air Wing 5 — which can deploy a combat-ready force that protects and defends the Western maritime interests in the Indo-Asia Pacific Region, according to the US Navy.
