KIEV (Sputnik) — Kushnir said at a briefing that the Ukrainian deputy defense minister for European integration would participate in a meeting with the Norwegian ambassador in Kiev on Tuesday to discuss the military and political situation in Ukraine and the prospect of providing assistance to the Ukrainian army.
"Today, Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Gen. Viktor Muzhenko will meet US Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno."
The United States has been providing security assistance to Ukraine, with US Congress allocating $300 million of the 2016 defense budget to this purpose. The House of Representatives has introduced legislation calling for up to $1 billion in lethal defensive military aid for Ukraine.
