Russia's Ministry of Defense published a footage showing the Topol-M and Yars land-based mobile missile systems crossing a river on a pontoon ferry.

The video was uploaded to the ministry's accounts on social media. The agency did not provide any details of the drills.

The RS-24 Yars is a solid fuel-based thermonuclear intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with at least four multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles. It was first tested on May 29, 2007 and introduced into service in July 2010 shortly after completing final tests.

The RS-24 Yars, designed to evade missile defense systems up to a range of 7,500 miles, is an upgraded version of the Topol-M ballistic missile that can be fired both from a mobile launcher and silo.

Russia's Ministry of Defense said that RS-24 Yars and Topol-M ballistic missiles would be the mainstays of the ground-based component of Russia's nuclear triad and would account for no less than 80 percent of the Strategic Missile Forces' arsenal by 2016.
