WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Airstrikes in Syria destroyed two ISIL fighting positions near Al-Hasakah and three tactical units, five fighting positions and an ISIL vehicle near Kobani.
In Iraq, airstrikes decimated multiple Islamic State tactical units, fighting positions, military equipment, weapons, ammunition and staging areas near Al Asad, Bayji, Fallujah, Mosul, Ramadi Tal Afar.
“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted five airstrikes using attack, bomber and fighter aircraft,” CENTCOM said on Wednesday. “Separately in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted 16 airstrikes.”
The airstrikes were conducted as a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, whose goal is to eliminate ISIL militants and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, the Middle East and the rest of the world, according to the release.
The US-led Coalition began carrying out the airstrikes against the Islamic State in August 2014.
