Head of Russia's National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov said that Russian military experts will check the scope of NATO exercise in Scotland.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian military experts will check the scope of NATO exercise in Scotland, head of Russia's National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov said.

The check will take place between April 13 and April 16 under the Vienna Document 2011 on confidence and security-building measures. NATO exercise Joint Warrior led by the United Kingdom started on Saturday and will run until April 24. Over 50 warships and submarines as well as 70 aircraft and 13,000 personnel from 14 countries are participating in the drills.

“The inspection aims to define the scope of the military activities within the specified area,” Ryzhkov said.

Russian experts will visit training grounds and receive information from Britain on military activities, Ryzhkov added.

On Saturday, NATO said in a statement that the drills would provide complex coordinated training which brought together land, air and maritime forces.

The current Joint Warrior drill is the biggest in the history of the exercise.
