TALLINN (Sputnik) – The troops will remain in Estonia for three months, and will partake in Siil 2015 military exercises on May 4-15, which will be the largest in the country's history.

"The jumps were carried out by two platoons of paratroopers consisting of 90 people, who landed in a field near Kalme village," the defense forces said.

Last month, US tanks and equipment arrived in Estonia to take part in international military exercises.

The presence of US soldiers in the Baltic nation is part of operation Atlantic Resolve, a demonstration of US commitment to NATO members across Eastern Europe through international training and security cooperation.

NATO subsequently boosted its military presence in Eastern Europe close to Russia's borders. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that NATO expansion toward Russian borders could further aggravate existing tensions and undermine regional security.
