MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A Chinese company, which has recently visited Syria, plans to offer its container housing products that could be used to build temporary housing projects for refugees in the war-torn country, Qin Yong, the deputy chairman of the China-Arab Exchange Association, told Sputnik Thursday.
"Kong Lingyou, chairman of Zhongsu Technology Container Housing Company, gained a lot of confidence in the market in Syria after the one-week visit. He decided to transport his company’s products to Damascus to be put on display as early as September. Its container housing products can be used to build temporary housing projects for refugees who return to Syria," Qin said.
"Before the trip, many of the companies thought Syria is still not safe because of constant fighting. They were even worried whether they could return from Syria in one piece. But they experienced the ‘singing and dancing’ in Damascus personally. They witnessed the restoration of basic infrastructure, such as roads, in the city," he said.
In addition, Jiangxi-based Jiangnan Group, a leading provider of power cables and wires in China, also expressed interests in working with the Syrian Ministry of Electricity to help rebuild the nation’s power supply networks, while a Qingdao-based detergent manufacturer reached a tentative agreement with a local partner to produce detergent in Syria, Qin specified.
On Wednesday, about 20 representatives of Chinese enterprises completed a one-week trip to Syria. During the visit, the Chinese delegation also met with Syrian officials from various government departments such as the Ministry of Electricity and the Ministry of Industry, as well as top local officials in Homs and Tartus.
This is the third delegation of Chinese enterprises to visit Syria this year, led by the China-Arab Exchange Association, following previous visits in April and June.
