Russia Delivers Over a Ton of Humanitarian Aid to Syria’s Latakia Province
LATAKIA (Sputnik) – The aid includes food (grains, sugar, canned meat and fish) and over 40 kinds of medicine, including antibiotics, according to the reconciliation center.

Earlier this week, the first train carrying aid for the citizens of war-torn Syria went by the recently-restored railway from the port of Tartus to the town of Jableh. Russian experts have helped restore some 65 kilometers (40 miles) of the railway.

The ongoing violence in civil-war-torn Syria has led to a large-scale humanitarian crisis and claimed the lives of thousands of people, displacing millions more.

The railway infrastructure in Syria has been severely damaged amid continuing fighting between the government forces, terrorist groups and the opposition.

Humanitarian aid deliveries are being carried out on the territory of Syria almost daily.
