The Russian Defense Ministry said Friday that two Russian officers working for the center for Syrian reconciliation were injured in a militants' attack near the Castello Road in Aleppo.

The humanitarian corridor that is open for the exit of armed militants from Aleppo and located in the western part of Aleppo's Castello Road was shelled by militants from the east of the city on Friday, the ministry said.

"The shelling was carried out by gas cylinders from self-made Hellfire rocket launchers and mortars," the ministry said.

The lives of Russian officers are not under threat as they were lightly injured and evacuated to a safe area in Aleppo.

"The wounded soldiers were immediately evacuated to a safe area of the city, where they were provided with necessary medical assistance. Their lives are not under threat."

Moreover, some 50 Russian, Western, Arab journalists have been evacuated from the humanitarian corridor near the Castello Road after the militants' shelling, the ministry said.

Earlier in the day, local media reported that militants shelled a security checkpoint on Castello road in Syrian Aleppo wounding a journalist. Al Ekhbariya broadcaster's journalist Walid Hanaya was injured as a result of the attack, Syrian National TV (SRT) reported.

The news comes amid the 10-hour Russia-backed humanitarian pause in the Syrian city of Aleppo. The pause was announced by Chief of Russian General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov and came into force on Friday.

The previous humanitarian pause was announced by Russia from October 20-22 to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians and unarmed militants from eastern part of the embattled city via eight corridors. During the humanitarian pause, al-Nusra Front terrorist group prevented civilians from fleeing the city, attacking them.
