MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He called for the necessity to have a 48-hour pause in fighting in the city of Aleppo for UN humanitarian convoys to enter the city.

"Not one single convoy in one month has reached any of the humanitarian besieged areas, not one single convoy," de Mistura said.

The UN estimates that between 250,000 and 275,000 people have been trapped in eastern Aleppo after the only route into the area was shut in July amid heaving fighting. Recently, rebel forces made attempts to cut supply lines into the divided city’s western districts.
