US-Led Coalition Conducts 11 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria, Iraq

The US-led coalition air forces conducted five strikes in Syria and six strikes in Iraq against the Daesh targets, according to the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition fighting Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) carried out 11 airstrikes against the terror group's positions in Syria and Iraq during the last 24 hours, the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release on Sunday.

"Attack and fighter aircraft conducted five strikes in Syria … Rocket artillery and bomber and fighter aircraft conducted six strikes in Iraq, coordinated with and in support of the Iraqi government," the statement read.

In Syria, the airstrikes destroyed eight Daesh oil tankers, two oil fields, a front-end loader and damaged three fighting positions.

US-Led Coalition Conducts 14 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria, Iraq
In Iraq, the strikes targeted two Daesh tactical units, 11 fighting positions, four assembly areas, a headquarters, three command and control nodes, an observation post, a rocket rail, a supply cache, 11 vehicles and two mortar positions.

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting anti-Daesh airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014.

The ISIL terrorist group, also known as Daesh in Arabic, is outlawed in the United States, Russia and many other nations.
