"We encourage you and the State Department to continue to do everything possible to combat human trafficking,” the letter stated. “This reprehensible criminal industry has exploited millions of men, women, and children across the world, and it is our duty as a beacon of freedom to protect the dignity of the most vulnerable populations.”
The senators’ letter emphasized the importance of continuing collaboration with the governments of Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon affected by the migration of refugees from Syria and Iraq.
"We urge you [Department of State] to continue to engage directly with our global partners in ending this deeply harmful practice," the letter noted.
Human trafficking helps terrorist organizations, the letter added, such as the Daesh, Hezbollah, and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, by providing funds.
The practice of trafficking refugees to Europe brought over $320 million for Daesh and other terrorist-related groups, the letter revealed.
The Daesh, also known as Daesh in Arabic, is outlawed in Russia, the United States and a number of other countries around the world.
