MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The US-led coalition has carried out 21 airstrikes against the Islamic State (ISIL) terror group's positions in Iraq and Syria, the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials said Saturday.
"Bomber, attack, ground-attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft 12 strikes in Syria… Attack, bomber, and remotely piloted aircraft conducted nine strikes in Iraq, coordinated with and in support of the Iraqi government," the task force said in a statement issued on the US Department of Defense website.
In Syria, the US-led coalition strikes targeted 11 Daesh tactical units, 12 fighting positions and a vehicle, while in Iraq, the strikes hit five Daesh tactical units, destroyed several vehicles, a bunker, a fighting position and other targets.
The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting anti-Daesh airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014.
The extremist group is outlawed in the United States, Russia and many other nations.
