Turkey Appoints Over 340 Post-Coup Supreme, Cassation Court Members

Turkey’s Supreme Council of Judges and Public Prosecutors (HSYK) appointed 342 new members of the supreme courts and the court of cassation on Monday after a failed coup.

ANKARA (Sputnik) – Some 2,100 judges and prosecutors have been detained in connection with investigations into the July 15 attempted government overthrow, Prime Minister Binaly Yildirim estimated earlier.

The HSYK said in a statement it appointed 75 new members to the supreme court and 267 to the court of cassation because term limits have expired for some of the members of the judiciary.
