UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura’s adviser Jan Egeland said that the United Nations delivered humanitarian aid to 1 million people inside the besieged areas in Syria.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The UN-backed humanitarian task force has delivered aid to 1 million people in hard-to-reach, as well as in besieged areas in Syria in last five months, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura’s adviser Jan Egeland said Thursday.

"We have been now working in the humanitarian task force of the ISSG [International Syria Support Group] since mid-February about five months. We see that we have now reached 1 million people in hard-to-reach areas and in besieged areas… We have reached 400,000 of the 590,000 people inside the besieged areas at least once in the course of these five months," Egeland told reporters after the task force meeting.
