14 Servicemen Detained in Turkey for Attempting Attack on Turkish President

Some 14 servicemen detained in Turkey for attempting attack on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, local media reports.

The representative of the Turkish President said that 14 soldiers had been detained in connection with an attempted attack on Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He also said that there weren't any missing soldiers or military vehicles, including tanks and helicopters.

Earlier, the TV channel CNN Turk reported, citing unnamed sources, that 21 of the 25 military men who had organized and carried out an airstrike on the hotel where Erdogan was staying, remain at large. On Tuesday, the newspaper Hurriyet reported that 2 helicopters and 25 special forces servicemen which had been on their way to take part in the attack on Erdogan were missing.

Late on Friday, the Turkish authorities said that an attempted coup was taking place in the country. The coup attempt was suppressed by early Saturday. Nearly 300 people were killed and over 1,400 were injured, while thousands of people have been detained.
