Chopper That Attacked Parliament Building in Ankara Downed, President Says

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says that the helicopter that had been attacking the parliament building in Ankara was downed.

ANKARA (Sputnik) – According to the Turkish state-run Anadolu agency, the helicopter was downed by pro-government forces in Golbasi.

Turkish pro-government forces are now working on suppressing the military coup attempt in the country.

Earlier on Saturday, the Turkish government came under siege by a faction of military forces who sought to end the rule of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan citing the leader's drift away from the country's long-held secularist values.
