MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in June, Turkey's law enforcement detained Filiz with three fake driver licenses and four passports in the country's western province of Izmir.
According to the Hurriyet newspaper, Filiz has confessed during a preliminary questioning that he killed Russian citizen Elena Radchikova and her friend, Turkish citizen Goktug Demirarslan after both had accused him of being involved in the disappearance of Olga Seregina, a Russian citizen and his then-companion, in 2011, an allegation Filiz himself denies.
Filiz also confessed to the murder of Fatma Kayikci who had been found dead in Istanbul in May. Filiz claimed Kayikci had been able to uncover Filiz's true identity, despite him using fake documents.
The alleged killer has earned his doctorate at the Faculty of Biology at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. He worked in Paris in the framework of exchange programs for students and teachers.
