Iraqi Kurdistan troops have lost almost 1,500 fighters during the two years war with Daesh.

SULAYMANIYAH (Iraq) (Sputnik) — Iraqi Kurdistan troops, Peshmerga, have lost almost 1,500 fighters with another 8,600 wounded during the two years war with Daesh, a spokesman for the Iraqi Kurdistan Peshmerga ministry said Monday.

"During the war with the Islamic State [Daesh] 1,466 peshmerga soldiers were killed and 62 missed in action. 8610 soldiers were wounded," spokesman said as quoted by Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) media center.

At the moment Kurdish fighters are participating in the offensive to liberate Iraqi Mosul.

Daesh is a terrorist organization prohibited in many countries around the world, including in the United States and Russia.
