Over 20 Killed, 40 Injured in Terrorist Shellings of Syria's Aleppo

Militants from the al-Nusra Front and Ahrar ash-Sham armed groups continued their shellings of northern Syrian city of Aleppo and killed at least 20 and injured more than 40 people, a spokesman for the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation at the Hmeimim airbase said Wednesday.

HMEIMIM (Syria), (Sputnik) — He added that the militants attacked administrative buildings, as well as residential areas and killed more than 20 people, while 40 more were injured.

"Militants from al-Nusra Front terrorist group and Ahrar ash-Sham armed group conducted mortar attack against Aleppo's districts of Meydan and al-Muhafaza," the spokesman said.

Syria has been mired in civil war since March 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups, such as al-Nusra Front, which is prohibited in a number of countries, including Russia.
