The US-led coalition carried out 11 airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and 13 in Iraq.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against Daesh carried out nine airstrikes on Sunday near the Syrian city of Manbij destroying the terrorists' fighting positions and an explosives factory, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release.

"Near Manbij, nine strikes struck two separate ISIL [Daesh] tactical units and an ISIL improvised explosive device (IED) factory and destroyed 26 ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL mortar position, two ISIL vehicles, an ISIL supply cache, and three ISIL tunnels.," CENTCOM stated on Tuesday.

In total, the coalition conducted 11 airstrikes in and around three Syrian cities. The allied forces hit a Daesh oil pump near Raqqa and a weapons production factory near Washiyah, the release said.

Meanwhile in Iraq, 13 coalition airstrikes near seven cities, including Fallujah and Mosul, destroyed Daesh tactical units, fighting positions and an anti-air artillery piece, among other targets, the Central Command noted.

The US-led coalition of over 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes in Syria and Iraq against Daesh since summer 2014. Over the past year, the coalition has reclaimed a number of cities around Mosul in a bid to choke off outside support to Daesh, outlawed in the United States and Russia.
