MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United States and their Middle Eastern allies, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and Jordan are hampering the launch of the political process in Syria, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad told Sputnik.
"The question today is not if Damascus is ready for it [political settlement] but who is preventing the launch of the process of political settlement in the country. The answer is several countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and Jordan. They all work according to US instructions," the ambassador said in an interview.
The Syrian government earlier blamed the Saudi, Turkish and Qatari leaderships for ordering terrorist attacks across the country’s cities in order to derail the peace process.
