Turkish Police Arrest 30 Daesh Terrorists in Country’s South

Turkish law enforcement arrested a total of 30 Daesh terrorists accused of involvement in the terrorist attacks in the counrty, according to official statement.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Turkish law enforcement has detained 30 terrorists of the Islamic State (also known as Daesh, banned in Russia) jihadist group in Gaziantep Province since last week, according to the statement published Tuesday.

"Since May 15, a total of 30 militants accused of involvement in the terrorist attacks in Suruc on June 20, Ankara on October 10, Istanbul on March 19 were detained," the statement published on the southern province municipality’s website reads.

According to the Turkish province’s authorities, the detainees plotted attacks on the November 2015 G20 summit in Antalya, the Cumhuriyet newspaper’s headquarters in Istanbul and the congress of the ruling Turkish Justice and Development Party on May 22 in Ankara.

Large quantities of weapons and explosives were also confiscated during the operation, according to the statement.
