SULAYMANIYAH (Iraq) (Sputnik) – The European Union must more actively influence Turkey in the issue of the Kurds, Iraqi Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Yusuf Mohammed Sadiq said.
“The European Union needs to apply more perseverance in the observance of the rights of Kurds, human rights, as well as the freedom of speech and mass media [in Turkey]. I call on the European Union to pay particular attention to this since this is one of the ways of getting out of this dead end situation in the region,” Sadiq said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Turkey needs to learn its lessons from history and needs to understand that violence is not the way to solve the Kurdish issue,” Sadiq added.
