Bangladesh executed on Wednesday 73-year-old Islamist leader, Motiur Rahman Nizami, for war crimes committed during the 1971 civil war in Pakistan, media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Nizami was hanged at the central jail of the Bangladesh capital of Dhaka just after midnight local time on Wednesday (18:01 GMT Tuesday) for genocide, rape and torture, Al Jazeera broadcaster said.
