TEL AVIV (Sputnik) — The bomb detonated during inspection at a West Bank checkpoint outside of the Palestinian village of Hizme, north of Jerusalem.
"An improvised explosive device planted on the side of the road, detonated, wounding an officer, who was evacuated to provide him with emergency medical care," the statement reads.
Earlier on Tuesday, security was tightened at public venues in Jerusalem after two elderly women were stabbed in the city's Armon Hanatziv neighborhood.
