ANKARA (Sputnik) – For months, Kilis has been subjected to shelling from the Syrian territory, occupied by the Daesh militant group. The rocket attacks have intensified recently and the Turkish troops deployed in the vicinity and within the town have retaliated by shelling positions in Syria.
According to the Turkish television broadcaster A Haber, vehicles from the 5th Armored Brigade Command, stationed in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep, have been redeployed to Kilis.
Daesh is a terrorist group outlawed in the United States and Russia among other states. The group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and declared a caliphate on the territories under its control, as well as trying to spread its influence to the neighboring territories.
