MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The prisoner swap was carried out on Sunday and included Yemenis detained in "areas of operations near the border of Saudi Arabia," the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a statement by a Saudi-led coalition.
The trade comes ahead of a ceasefire deal between Riyadh and Houthi rebels, which is scheduled to come into force on April 10.
Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Shiite Houthi rebels, the country’s main opposition force, who have been supported by army units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Since March 2015, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been carrying out airstrikes against Houthi positions at Hadi's request.
The conflicting sides are set to start peace talks in Kuwait on April 18.
