"The minister greeted UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and Islamic Development Bank head Ahmad Madani at the airport. The minister held a closed meeting with them," the press service said as quoted by Iraqi Media News Agency.
According to the agency, the delegation also held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi. Later in the day, the officials will attend the Iraqi parliamentary session to discuss loans and investment to the country, as well as the reconstruction of cities liberated from Daesh terrorist group.
The visit comes as a suicide bombing hit a football stadium south of Baghdad on Friday, leaving over 40 people dead and 100 injured, according to media reports. Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Daesh is a terrorist group that has captured large areas of land in Iraq and Syria, where it proclaimed a caliphate. The terror group is outlawed in Russia, the United States and in several other countries and considered to be one of the main threats to global security.
