US-Led Coalition Launches 7 Airstrikes Against Daesh in Syria Amid Truce

US-led coalition in Syria conducted seven airstrikes on Tuesday throughout four Syrian cities hitting a Daesh security headquarters, buildings, mortar and fighting positions.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition launched 21 airstrikes against Daesh terrorists embedded in Syria and Iraq targeting the group’s headquarters, tactical units and fighting position, the US Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced in a press release on Wednesday.

"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted seven strikes using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets," the release said.

Last week, Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria. The cessation of hostilities took effect at midnight on Saturday, Damascus time, generally holding across the country despite reported minor violations.

In Iraq, the coalition launched 14 airstrikes on Tuesday in and around eight Iraqi cities including Mosul, Ramadi, Sinjar and Fallujah destroying a Daesh headquarters, assembly areas, vehicles, a vehicle borne improvised explosive device facility, fighting positions and suppressing a terrorist artillery piece.

"Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 14 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq."
