The Syrian Army and the country's National Defense Force have obliterated Daesh terrorists' positions in a number of provinces across Syria in the last 24 hours, media reports said.

Supported by the Syrian Air Force, the country's army and National Defense Forces (NDF) have managed to drive Daesh terrorists out of more key territories across Syria over the past 24 hours, according to the Iranian news agency FARS.

The ceasefire which has been agreed to between the Syrian government and certain rebel forces came into effect at the stroke of midnight on February 27. While the BBC reports that guns have fallen silent over major battlefields and that UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said fighting had "calmed down", the country's army continues to combat Daesh (ISIL/ISIS) terrorists and the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front.

Meanwhile, dozens of terrorists were killed and many more wounded after the army launched military operations to regain control of more key villages, town and cities in the provinces of Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, Damascus, Hama and Latakia.

In Aleppo, the Syrian troops won back the strategic town of Khanaser and the key village of al-Muqayrat, in an attack that left scores of the terrorists killed and wounded.

In a major development on Friday, the Syrian Army and the NDF regained control over all settlements along a key supply route linking the northern city of Aleppo with the town of Khanaser to its southeast. A week ago, Daesh pushed to cut off the route between Hama and Aleppo. The terrorists took Khanaser but were later repelled; the Syrian Army continues to fight Daesh to the north and south of the town.

In another development, Syrian fighter jets pounded the terrorists' positions in Haweija Saker region and three villages, Mura'yeh, Hatleh and al-Jafra, located on the outskirts of Deir ez-Zor province.

In the province of Daraa, the Syrian Army's artillery units launched an attack on the terrorists' strongholds in the towns of Dae'l and Tal Antar, army sources said.

The sources also reported about the terrorists suffering heavy casualties during the army's attacks on their positions in Damascus, Hama and Latakia provinces.

Syria has been mired in a civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting opposition factions and terrorist groups such as Daesh and the Al-Nusra Front, which are banned in Russia.

Adding to the Syrian Army's anti-terror effort is Russia's ongoing air campaign in Syria which was launched on September 30, when more than fifty Russian warplanes, including Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34 jets, commenced precision airstrikes on Daesh and Al-Nusra Front targets in Syria at the behest of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed earlier this month that advanced, super-maneuverable Su-35S multi-role fighters had begun their combat mission in Syria.

    Beady-eyed Insomniac,
    Hi
This is not good enough those loonies must be wiped out including US terrorist in Syria illegally.
The refuggees should be put on a large boat and sent to the US, as they (US) are now destroying Europe, by this and the NWO.

Blackie, Excellent point. At some point, the rebels will be disarmed etc and foreigners will have to leave - which will throw up some intriguing dynamics for the home countries. Peter Oborne just returned to Britain from Aleppo and reported that he was astonished to learn the rebels were significantly strengthened with butcherous Chechens, Afghans, Brits and Americans.
And yes, the US needs some refugees to settle, to understand what their military do when abroad.

According to my understanding of geopolitical interests involved in Syria I believe that this ceasefire will have no future. Reasons for that are very simple.

Russia and Syria would be the only two parties in this conflict that would gain something or rather everything from such ceasefire and USA lead coalition would lose all. They have no interest in ceasefire. Let me be more precise and explain my point of view on this matter.

Ceasefire is beneficiary to Syria and Russia as they would be able to concentrate fire on precise terrorist locations thus destroying them very quickly. That victory would increase Assad chances to keep power and to prevent partition of his country. That is absolutely clear that by Assad's government victory over Daesh and their supporters Russia will in reality be the biggest winner. Reason for that is simple. Syria is ultimate key in Russian economic survival as Syrian government for as long on a power will never allow any construction of oil and gas pipeline from Gulf States through Syria and Turkey to EU over its territory which is the only option for Gulf states and USA to bring oil and gas to EU.

Both Russia and Syria are absolutely aware that their very existence depends of their victory over terrorists thus maintaining Syrian territorial integrity. If they lose that will be extremely bad for both Syrian government and Russian economy. Beside that other allays such as Hezbollah, Iraq and Iran have their religion and politics related reasons to win this war, as the victory would confirm their existence as powerful entities thus prevent opposition in Suni Muslims states which would like to erase them from the face of the Earth

On other side of equitation we have USA and their coalition of terror willing who do not want Syrian government victory. Contrary to very simple reason for Syrian government and its allays USA and its coalition of terrorist supporters has too many different and very often contradictory interest in seeing Syrian government collapse. If we just briefly outline their particular and common interests in case of Syrian government collapse:

Common to all of them is interest in seeing Syria disappearing form the maps of the world altogether and to rob the land from its natural resources.

USA would like to if not to replace Assad with pro-USA puppet government, which would dance to USA tune only then at least to partition country thus obtaining a part of land where they would install their USA slaving government. USA would do anything to be able to construct oil and gas pipeline over the Syrian territory starting in Gulf States passing through Syria and Turkey towards EU. By achieving that they would forbid EU to buy Russian oil and gas thus badly harm Russian economy and eventually cause collapse and possible partition of Russia onto smallest entities possible, all hating each other. That is ultimate USA dream, wish and intention.

Turkey would like to establish new Ottoman Empire and lay their hands on Syrian and Iraqi natural reserves and obtaining energy independence from Russian energy supplies.

Gulf states would like to exterminate Shia Muslims and subdue Syria and Iraq in order to fulfil their dreams of having Suni Caliphate across whole Middle East thus controlling natural resources in achieving their ultimate goal of destroying Iran.

These interests are contradictory and excluding each other but as unintelligent say goes: “Enemy of my enemy is my friend”. That never worked as USA have vast experience in fighting their former friends.

In Syria will be peace only if Russia commits ground forces on a large scale fully supported with other allays. That would of course mean No Fly zone over Syrian skies, and very quick liberation of the territory next to Turkish and Jordanian borders, thus preventing terrorists inflow and supplies. Counting on cooperation with USA is extremely unwise if not outright stupid. USA is cunning and they will do all they can to obtain their goal. However Russia has all abilities to prevent any “Plan B” or even “Plan C” and so on. Syria is sovereign and independent country with legally elected government and only Syrian nation can make any decision of their future. All other enforced by foreign countries are illegal and terrorist equal.

Russia and Syria have to make that very clear in UNGA and UNSC. It has to be made absolutely clear that world will not support barbaric and terrorist actions in any sovereign and independent country around the world, regardless of excuses and justifications made by intruders. Only UNSC can endorse intervention in country where internal events endanger own people. Syria has not been internally endangered but thanks to foreign intervention starting with USA creation of internal terrorist groups later supported by ISIL and supplied by all USA coalition of terror supporters.

Read this report carefully, again. If SAA and the Russians have "obliterated" the terrorists in the last 24 hours, they surely would have taken the last 4km of the highway that is important to keep supplying Aleppo. But they have not.

    Hype and hot air.
