Anzur has released a film about Daesh, which can be described as a drama focusing on the jihadist group's ideological and psychological impact on people. Anzur was interviewed following the film's opening night in Damascus.
"The film Daesh draws the public's attention to the fact that a military victory alone is not enough to destroy this jihadist group, which is notorious not only for their hair-raising executions and brutal acts of terrorism, but also the scale of their penetration into the daily lives of a vast number of people," Anzur said.
Touching upon Daesh's clout, Anzur added that "many people surrender psychologically because they feel that they are unable to resist the power of cruelty and violence created by Daesh terrorists inside their group."
Notably, lots of viewers harshly criticized Anzur for the final scene of the film, which showed one of the Daesh commanders escaping with a bag containing several fake passports.When asked why he decided not to show the Daesh commander being killed, Anzur explained that he had made the decision deliberately.
"The Daesh commander is an international person, which is why I decided not to kill him. He will probably leave Syria for another country, change his appearance and will continue his activities there. This is a film with an open ending, with viewers [free] to define the fate of the commander all by themselves," he said.
According to him, the film has been translated into 9 languages and will soon be displayed in a number of Syrian provinces, including Damascus, As-Suwayda, Homs, Latakia and Tartus, as well as the United States and Canada.
Security was tight when the film premiered in the Dar El Opera building in Damascus last week.
