An explosion rocked the Turkish southeastern city of Mardin in the early hours of Friday, just hours ahead of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's visit, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) The explosion shook the central square, along which the prime minister is due to pass later in the day, according to the Daily Sabah newspaper. Currently, law enforcement officials are trying to determine whether there are other explosive devices in the area.

According to the newspaper, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device. The explosion injured one person, who was hospitalized.

After the incident, security measures have been increased in the city.
