When peace finally comes to Syria, Russia is open to investing in the Syrian economy and infrastructure, Ziyad Sabsabi, the official representative of Russia’s Chechen Republic in Moscow, said during his official visit to Syria.

Earlier this week, Sabsabi traveled to Syria and met with Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi. During the meeting with the Syrian Prime Minister, Sabsabi passed him a letter from Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov addressed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"There will be many investment projects between Syria and Russia. Syria is already getting ready to send the shipment of citrus products to Russia. On January 25 of this year, the first export party will be sent under the framework of a new cooperation between Russia and Syria," Sabsabi told Sputnik.

When the war comes to an end, the Chechen Republic would provide support in the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure in Syria, Sabsabi told al-Halqi on behalf of the Kadyrov's government.

"Chechen companies have extensive experience in this [the reconstruction of post-war infrastructure], as we all witnessed how the post-war Grozny [the capital of Chechnya] turned into a developed city with the highest-level of infrastructure," Sabsabi told Sputnik.

The Chechen senator also said that international terrorism will soon be wiped out of Syria and this thought is encouraging Syrians. Sabsabi was surprised that despite the ongoing war, people in Syria remain kind and hospitable.

Sabsabi expressed support for Syrians on behalf of Chechen Leader Kadyrov and said the people of Russia support the actions of President Vladimir Putin in Syria.

Al-Halqi, in turn, said he was happy to see that Syrians, even while living abroad, are doing everything to help their country. In particular, the Prime Minister praised the work of the Syrian diaspora in Russia, which is doing a great job of bringing awareness to the fate of Syrian people and spreading information about the actions of Russian Armed Forces currently fighting terrorists in Syria.
