MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least two people were killed and seven others were injured when a man opened fire from an automatic weapon at the Simta bar in central Tel Aviv last Friday. A nationwide manhunt was launched for the gunman.
The suspect, 29-year-old Nashat Melhem who is an Israeli Arab, could be hiding in the West Bank, police said on Wednesday, as cited by Haaretz.
According to police, Melhem is also suspected of having killed a third person – Amin Shaaban, a taxi driver whose body was found near north Tel Aviv’s Mandarin Hotel after the shooting.
Police and Israel’s Security Agency (Shin Bet) are now conducting searches in the border area between Israel proper and the West Bank, as well as north-central Israel.
