Daesh Oil Revenue Drops by 30% Due to Coalition Airstrikes – Pentagon
17:55 GMT 06.01.2016 (Updated: 10:40 GMT 06.08.2022) Daesh profits from the illegal oil trade have dropped by 30 percent as a result of the US-led coalition airstrike campaign dubbed Tidal Wave II, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson Col. Steven Warren told reporters on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "We assessed this [coalition] operation has reduced their [Islamic State]revenue by about 30 percent," Warren stated.
31 December 2015, 12:23 GMT
The spokesperson has explained that the Daesh, produced 45,000 barrels of oil per day before the Tidal Wave II that targets terrorists’ oil infrastructure.
"It [the production] has been reduced to about 34,000 barrels per day now," Warren said.
Daesh (Islamic State), which is outlawed in many countries including Russia, controls large areas in oil-rich Syria, Iraq and Libya. The terrorists have been relying heavily on revenues from black-market sales of drugs, smuggled crude oil and human trafficking.
