MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Shiite Houthi rebels, who have been supported by army units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
"It is necessary to reiterate our urgent appeal to all parties to cease fighting immediately and to solve all the problems at the negotiating table. The resumption of intra-Yemeni negotiations scheduled for January 2016… represents a good opportunity for the parties [to reach an agreement]," the press service said.
Previous intra-Yemeni talks under UN auspices were postponed until January 14 amid violations of a seven-day ceasefire.
