The United States is interested in prolonging the Syrian crisis, said Ryan Dawson, geopolitical analyst and human rights activist.

He criticized the recent ceasefire between the government and certain terrorist groups, saying these factions do not want to stop the bloodshed, but want to regroup and attack again.

Dawson believes that the US is not fighting terrorism, but rather waging a false war of terrorism, noting that Washington aids Daesh and al-Qaeda. In an interview with Radio Sputnik, Dawson said that things are going to change in the near future.

“You have seen this in history especially in Vietnam when the war becomes so profitable to so many industries. The Middle East is detrimental for the US to keep its hegemony by preventing any rival oil pipe lines from being built which is precisely what kick started this conflict,” Dawson said.

He went on to explain, “There was a $10 billion pipeline project signed between Iraq, Iran and Syria just months after the US was forced to pull out of Iraq and then this crisis kicked off in Syria in very fishy circumstances where you had these rebels firing on the police. If the US really wanted to resolve the conflict then why would they be aiding al-Qaeda and ISIS? This isn’t just some sort of incompetence.”

According to Dawson, the former Defense Intelligence Agency Director, Michael Flynn, admitted that the agenda of the US was to aid the Salafist groups to tear Syria apart. “If you look at the list of the top defense industries like Lockheed Martin and also the mercenary groups, not just the US but also some British groups as well, they are making billions of dollars and they have a very tight relationship with the US mass media. They have overlapping membership in their board of directors.”

The analyst further noted that this collaboration between the US industries and mass media is the reason why the US media has been raging about what a ‘monster’ Bashar Assad is. Dawson pointed out that it is only since 2011 that the US media has started portraying Assad in such a light although he has been president for over ten years and the US did not have any issues with him earlier.

Looking at US policy in the Middle East, the analyst noted that the US is not concerned about the war on terrorism and in fact according to him the US is waging war of terrorism.

Talking about Syria, Dawson said that Daesh has lost half the territory that it once controlled. Due to the presence of Russia and Iran, the US is now not the only ‘power in the room’. According to the analyst no one believes the US propaganda anymore and it is possible to say that within two years Daesh will be gone.

“The US learnt that it had to get a handle on the media and if you just contrast the coverage of the media of the first war in Iraq and the second war it is ridiculous. They were nothing but just war cheerleaders in the second war in Iraq. They lied and fabricated news based on forged documents.”

Dawson goes on to explain in depth all the fabricated stories that came out of the US mass media during the second war in Iraq.

Talking about why the ‘right kind of people’ don’t believe US media anymore, Dawson said, “There will be a change as the internet is breaking the media monopoly. You have a lot of foreign news outlets now that are in English and that will break the monopoly as the American public can now get news from other sources.”
