Russian Data on Oil Trade With Daesh Should Trigger Erdogan's Isolation

Alexei Pushkov, the head of the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of Russia's parliament said that NATO will try to do everything not to pay attention to the information on Turkey’s oil trade with the Islamic State jihadist group (ISIL or Daesh in Arabic).

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The information on Turkey’s oil trade with the Islamic State jihadist group (ISIL or Daesh in Arabic), released by the Russian Defense Ministry, should lead to the isolation of Turkey’s authorities in the international arena, but the West is trying to surpress it, the head of the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of Russia's parliament said Wednesday.

“[The information] would have led to international isolation of the Erdogan government if all countries were attentive to this information, and if the West acted…in accordance with those principles which it declares, and the declared principles of the West include the fact of the inadmissibility of dealing with terrorists,” Alexei Pushkov told reporters.

According to Pushkov, “NATO will try to do everything so not to pay attention to it and not to comment on it.”

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov on Wednesday reiterated earlier remarks made by President Vladimir Putin about evidence that suggests Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his family continue to profit from oil deals made with the IS, an organization outlawed in Russia.

Erdogan said he would resign if indisputable evidence on the matter were presented.
