Russian fighter jets have carried out 71 sorties and hit 118 terrorist targets in Syria's provinces of Idlib, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

"Russian air group's aircraft in the Syrian Arab Republic have conducted 71 sorties and hit 118 terrorist targets in Idlib, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia in the past 24 hours," the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman said.

The number of sorties the Russian Aerospace Forces are conducting has grown due the increased number of confirmed intelligence data on terrorist infrastructure in Syria, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

"As you see, the number of sorties has grown due to the increased amount of intelligence data on terrorist infrastructure targets confirmed via various channels."

"All Russian aircraft at the Hmeymim airbase are all-weather planes and all the services of the Russian air group work coherently, reliably and efficiently. Analyzing the foreign colleagues' methods of working on this issue and without waiting for their next hoax, we inform about that," the ministry's spokesman added.

The Russian aviation also continued to detect and eliminate terrorist caravans with weapons and ammunition.

Russian Su-24M jets destroyed a terrorist command center with a communication center and a major ammunition depot near Salma in the Latakia province, he said, adding that unmanned aerial vehicles had uncovered the target.

"As a result of an Su-24M airstrike the object was completely destroyed."

The Russian Aerospace Forces also hit a Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam) terrorist command center with a communication center in the Damascus province, Konashenkov said, adding that the coordination of militants in the region has been disrupted due to the strike.

According to the Russian general, Su-24M bombers destroyed a terrorist fortified position which controlled the delivery of ammunition and arms to militants in the province of Aleppo in Syria.

"This [terrorist infrastructure] object controlled a highway which was used to deliver ammunition and weapons to militants."

The Russian aviation also launched airstrikes on camouflaged terrorist bases in Syria.

"First of all, it concerns terrorist bases, transit centers and fortified positions, as well as command centers."

In the Idlib province, a major camouflaged terrorist ammunition supply point was destroyed by a Su-25 airstrike. The object and three disguised trucks which belonged to terrorists were completely destroyed.

"In the Valley of al-Ghab in the Idlib province, Su-25 attack aircraft destroyed a major camouflaged terrorist ammunition supply point, where ammunition, weapons and money were kept."

"Just imagine the explosive range of munitions that destroyed this ammunition depot, Konashenkov added."

Moreover, a Nusra Front command center, which was located in a two-storey building, and four off-road vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns and mortars was destroyed in the Homs province by a Su-24 pinpoint strike.
