WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The coalition conducted its airstrikes near eight Iraqi cities to the north and west of Baghdad, including Ramadi and Mosul.
The airstrikes hit ISIL fighting and mortar positions, tactical units and vehicles, as well as other infrastructure targets, according to the Central Command.
“In Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 15 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using fighter, attack, bomber, ground attack, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets,” the release said on Monday.
Meanwhile, Russia has been carrying out an air campaign against terrorist groups in Syria. Moscow launched pinpoint airstrikes on terrorist positions in Syria on September 30 at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Since the beginning of the operation, Russian Aerospace Forces have completed more than 900 sorties and destroyed over 800 terrorist positions, according to the Russian General Staff.
