Europe Take Note: Fight ISIL Now, Before the Wolf is At Your Door

Israeli publicist Avigdor Eskin told Radio Sputnik that the recent escalation of terror attacks in Israel poses questions for the Israeli authorities over its handling of the terrorist threat, and serves as a warning to European leaders, who may soon face such problems in their own countries.

A surge in terrorist attacks in Israel will inflame tensions between the ethnic communities that live there, unless the terrorist threat from the Islamic State (ISIL) is undermined, warned Israeli publicist Avigdor Eskin on Tuesday.

"This has a direct connection to what is happening in the Middle East in general, with ISIS (ISIL), because according to the Israeli security, we don’t really see any trace to any specific organization, and those who try to blame Mahmoud Abbas are doing it for political purposes."

"He was not the one who sent young Palestinians to stab and kill people on the street, [nor prompted] attempts to cut heads, cut throats. This comes from somewhere else, this comes from ISIS, this comes from this new wave of violence in the Middle East in general, and of course if the people of ISIS killed thousands of Christians in the Middle East, why not expect them to try to kill the Jews as well," asked Eskin. 

On a more positive note, the analyst asserted that the terrorism which has profited from chaos in the Middle East will not be able to prosper from such a situation arising in Israel.

"It's very difficult to create chaos in Israel."

"You can see that there were almost no attempts at retaliation from the Jewish citizens, despite the fact that sooner or later we will see it, of course, a natural development."

However, Eskin warned that the Israeli government's lack of a response, besides boosting border security, will contribute to the conflict escalating further.

"There were no harsh measures, there were no carrot measures."

"Only after the government of Israel decides where to go, we will judge whether it's going to diminish this wave of terrorism, or postpone it somehow."

"But if Russia wins the battle in Syria, together with President Assad, the terrorism will go down, they will be shut down; the situation will be much better off in Israel as well."

"People are not really frightened, people are ready to act. People are ready to respond, people are ready to retaliate. But, people are waiting."

"This is what Europe is going to face soon as well," said Eskin. "Europe must take a serious, serious lesson from Israel and see how to avoid this situation. Israel is still looking for an answer."
