MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The death toll in the twin bomb blasts in the Turkish capital of Ankara has risen to 95, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's office announced Saturday.

"The incident claimed the lives of 95 citizens," the press release stated, adding that 48 of the 246 injured were in intensive care.

Davutoglu said earlier the suspected suicide attacks outside a central train station during a pro-Kurdish peace rally may have been carried out by either the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) or the Islamic State (ISIL) jihadist group.

Turkey has launched a two-pronged military campaign against both groups on its southern borders and in Syria over the summer in response to a surge in terrorist attacks.

Neither hardline organization is yet to claim responsibility for the deadly bombings.
