PARIS (Sputnik) — The National Assembly met on Tuesday to debate France’s participation in air raids against ISIL targets in Syria.
In early September, ISIL militants and Western-backed anti-government rebels clashed over control of Marea, a strategic town 12 miles from the Turkish border.
"The Islamic State group has advanced significantly near the town of Marea, cancelling out the progress made by the Free Syrian Army, or rather what remains of it," Le Drian said in an address before the lower house of the French parliament.
