MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US State Secretary John Kerry discussed in a phone call on Wednesday ways to resolve the ongoing conflict in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Lavrov reiterated the need to make consolidated efforts to repel terrorist groups that have occupied large swaths of the Syrian territory and continue to threaten global security," the ministry said in a statement.
"Lavrov stressed that the Syrian army has been carrying the main burden of thwarting terrorist advances in the country so far," the statement said.
