Two Police Officers, Two Kurdish Militants Die in Clashes in Turkey
ANKARA (Sputnik) The militants targeted Turkish security forces arriving in the Mardin province town of Gelinkaya to secure the area overnight, according to the Daily Sabah.

The publication adds that PKK members also attacked an oil pipeline in the province’s Midyat district, where Gelinkaya is located.

The incident coincides with another pre-dawn attack, where a tractor laced with 2 tonnes of explosives claimed the lives of two security officers and wounded 24 others in the eastern Agri province.

Turkey designates PKK a terrorist organization and is carrying out a military operation against it in northern Iraq, breaking a two-year truce with the group.

At least 260 PKK members were killed in the latest 12-hour airstrikes conducted by Turkish fighter jets.

On Saturday, the Kurdish regional government in Iraq called on PKK to withdraw from its territory to prevent civilian casualties.

Ankara also opened a campaign against the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria last week.
