“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted one airstrike using bomber aircraft,” the Joint Task Force said. “Separately in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted eight airstrikes.”
The Joint Task Force noted the airstrike in Syria eliminated an Islamic State tactical unit near Tal Abyad.
In Iraq, the Coalition airstrikes decimated Islamic State-held buildings, tactical units, vehicles and staging areas near Bayji, Haditha, Sinjar and Tal Afar, the Joint Task Force stated.
The airstrikes conducted were a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, whose goal is to eliminate Islamic State, according to Joint Task Force.
On Tuesday, the United Nations announced at least 3 million people in Iraq have been displaced by Islamic State fighting and violence.
