ANKARA (Sputnik) The blasts, which claimed lives of three people and injured at least 80 others, occurred on Friday at a campaign rally for pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) ahead of June 7 parliamentary election.

“Late evening yesterday, I was given a report that a suspect in organization of the double terrorist attack in Diyarbakir on Friday was detained,” Davutoglu told journalists.

The name of the suspect and other details are kept in secret, as the investigation is ongoing, the prime minister added. There are solid grounds to consider the detainee was behind the bomb blasts, he said.

On Sunday, Turks are voting in a general election to choose 550 members of the unicameral Turkish legislature.

The Kurds are Turkey's largest ethnic minority and comprise 25 percent of the country's population. The HDP expressed confidence that it could gain over 10 percent of the votes and thus enter the parliament.
