Yemen's Houthi militias captured another district of southwestern Aden on Wednesday, after shelling Saudi territories on Tuesday.

Yemen's Houthi militias reportedly shelled Saudi Arabian border towns on Tuesday, leading the Saudi military to strike back, killing at least 43 Yemeni civilians.

The shelling of the Saudi city of Najran killed three civilians. According to eyewitness reports, many residents left the area after Tuesday's shelling.

In Aden, Houthis reportedly took control of the city's al-Tawahi neighborhood. Maj. Gen. Ali Naser al-Hassani, a military commander loyal to the Yemeni president who fled to Saudi Arabia was killed in the fighting.

The leader of Yemen's separatist anti-Houthi Southern Movement, Ali Salem al-Hajj told Sputnik on Wednesday that Houthi forces hit a caravan of boats crossing the Gulf of Aden from one Southern Movement-controlled territory to another, which killed up to 45 civilian refugees.

The Saudi-led bombing campaign in Yemen has killed over 1,200 people since it began in March, according to UN figures.
