CAIRO, May 3 (Sputnik) — According to the Akhbar Yemen newspaper, several dozens of troops are participating in the operation.

Earlier in the day, local media reported that a limited contingent of the Saudi coalition's ground forces had landed in the Aden airport, and was battling the Houthis.

Yemen has been mired in confrontation in recent months after Houthi rebels had seized control of capital Sanaa and several other cities, forcing President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to flee the country.

The Saudi-led coalition launched a military campaign against the Houthi positions on March 26 upon Hadi's request.

The coalition announced the end to its military operations in Yemen late April. However, military confrontation in the country continued.
